Jixaron is a wizard academy and wizard city refounded by Dea in the Realm of Nice.
Organization
Being invited to join Jixaron is not just an invitation to join the wizard academy, but to live and work in the city. Jixaron is owned collectively by everyone living in it, and governed by a Council of Archmagi. Because of the limited number of students, getting invited into Jixaron is competitive, and a big deal. However, once they join they do not need to pay, instead they do that by living and working in Jixaron. Potential students are chosen based on their potential to use magic for heroic purposes. However, in recent years as the city and school have been growing more students are being invited.
The pupils are taught directly by Jixaron master wizards, usually in small groups. After graduation, Jixaron functions more like a guild, offering missions for graduates to go on that will help throughout the material plane and beyond. Many former students still live within the city, though even those that don't will still participate in missions Jixaron offers.
As a nation, upon its founding Jixaron had laid claim to all of the landmass now officially known as the Realm of Nice. However, once other civilizations began to reveal themselves on the landmass, the claim was reduced to just the large city and immediately surrounding area.
Council of Archmagi
Jixaron is run by a council of twelve archmagi. Decisions relating to the city and the academy are put to a vote on the council, and two-thirds of the council must agree for the vote to pass. Each archmage has their own responsibilities, aided by their own team of wizards in their employ to help with these and to teach students.
1. Gilrith, Archmage of Jixaron
The Archmage of Jixaron is the head of the Council, the city, and the school. They guide the rest of the archmagi and offer direction in the way Jixaron should be run.
The position originally belonged to Dea upon refounding Jixaron. In 1702 ADW, Dea left the plane and left behind the recommendation that Gilrith be named Archmage of Jixaron. By 1762 ADW, Leonard held the title of Archmage of Jixaron temporarily. Gilrith was later given this position.
Gilrith was the Archmage of Necromancy at Arpaton Academy, and was Dea's favorite professor during her matriculation, and one that eagarly left with Dea when Jixaron was reformed. Gilrith is an old Firbolg man kept alive at very, very old age from necromancy. Despite being a bit creepy he is extremely friendly, and doesn't think the stigma necromancy has is fair.
2. Har DiHar, Archmage of Evocation
Despite being an Artificer, Dea saw Har had great knowledge of the elements, and could make a great Elementalist, naming him the Archmage of Evocation. He would continue his studies into evocation and the elements here.
3. Ganneth, Archmage of Divination
They, along with the Archmage General, are also in charge of the Bastion of the Eye. For this reason they are sometimes referred to as the Archmage of the Eye.
Lilith was the first Archmage of Divination before leaving in 1764 ADW.
Ganneth held the position of Archmage General for many years, gradually over time allowing the hierarchy he put in place for the Planar Marines handle itself, with generals leading things. In 1764 ADW when many of the other archmagi left, when the remaining council was deciding the replacement members Ganneth announced he wanted to move back to his true passion, Divination.
4. Wardrix Mississippi, Archmage of Conjuration
Conjuration is incredibly important to Jixaron. Most of their construction materials, food, and spell components are conjured. The Archmage of Conjuration ensures that the city and school have all they need. They are also in charge of teleportation in and out of the city.
Wardrix is a former adventurer who gained notoriety in Tortoran. After the two hemispheres reconnected after the First Abomination Invasion, Wardrix returned to his home of Mississippi. There Tahlon recommended him to Dea, who invited him to Jixaron.
5. Mara Massée, Archmage of Transmutation
6. Joras, Archmage of Abjuration
The Archmage of Abjuration works closely with the Archmage General and the Planar Marines. They are in charge of protecting the city from harmful magic.
7. Zandalir, Archmage of Enchantment
In addition to being a master of enchantment magic, they are also called the "Archmage of Diplomacy". They handle the relations of Jixaron with other nations and factions in the world. Due to the dangerous nature of enchantment magic and the importance of geopolitics, this is a closely-watched position entrusted only to the most reputable of wizards.
8. Sapro, Archmage of Necromancy
Given the dangers involved in necromancy, a big part of the Archmage of Necromancy's job is the regulation of necromancy and advising in the case of necromancy-related threats.
9. Aroth Arros Stonecaster, Archmage of Illusion
10. Gurda, Archmage of Dunamancy
In addition to studies of dunamis (gravity, entropy, and time, and they way they interact with the magic of the universe), the Archmage of Dunamancy is also in charge of finding other emerging magics, following the latest research and discoveries.
The first Archmage of Dunamancy was Emileide Rothenel, but at some point she was replaced by Vult. Vult then left Jixaron in 1764 ADW.
11. Emileide Rothenel, Archmage General
The Archmage General is the authority in command of the Planar Marines. They are given authority to lead the Planar Marines however they see fit in case of emergencies when fast action is required. They are thought to be the second highest authority in Jixaron, behind the Archmage of Jixaron.
Ganneth was the first Archmage General. When the restoration of the Bastion of the Eye (led by Ganneth) was completed and the Planar Marines were formed, Dea decided that someone other than the Archmage of Jixaron should run the Planar Marines. In addition to Ganneth being a master of divination magic and understanding the tactical advantages of that, Dea theorized that a conflict-averse person would be a good leader for the Planar Marines—not someone who will just send soldiers to their deaths. Ganneth held this position until the restructuring of the council in 1764 ADW.
12. Rijndael Rothenel, Archmage of the People
The archmage to represent the will and wants of the people. This includes both the common people who live in Jixaron and the common people of the world. Unlike the other positions, this one is an elected position, voted on by the people of Jixaron.
The current Archmage of the People is Malevolo, Dea's son. Not only is he a popular and charismatic bard, he takes his role as Archmage very seriously and is a passionate representative of the people.
13. Leonard Voke, Archmage Ambassador
Places
The Divination school is built around the Bastion of the Eye, and the other schools are all built around that.
Jixaron has at least three teleportation circles. All three circles are guarded and warded with abjuration magic.
- In the center of a public square. The "public entry" circle. This is a specialized teleportation circle that is much larger than normal, is always active, and can teleport users to several exit circles.
- In the Archmage's Tower (the office and residence of the Archmage of Jixaron).
- In the ruins of old Jixaron. At least one circle exists here, which was discovered by the Sinister Seven. This circle is off-limits.
The public entry square also has a statue made of the Log of Friendship transmuted into stone. The statue depicts Dea, Grull Shev Chak, Tahlon Mississippi, Selma, Rahim Alivir, Ygrid Ironborn, Maxwell Dias, Corrin Allum, V5-75, and Grubble, just after returning after defeating Alison.
