Personality
Mara has a reputation for being prickly and difficult to approach, but to people she is close with she is friendly, if not warm. She definitely cares a lot about magic being used for good in the world and doing whatever she can to forward that, including being an Archmage at Jixaron. She sees this as a very serious business considering everything going on in the world, and acts appropriately seriously to match. As a professor she has a reputation of being “tough but fair”, of her courses giving a lot of work but the students that take them learning a lot.
Biography
Mara Massée was a student of Dea's during the brief time when she taught courses of Arcane Lore Mastery at Arpaton Circle of Magic. As the Head Archmage, Dea didn’t do much teaching so these classes were usually reserved for the top students, including Leonard Voke. Mara was the top student at Arpaton at the time, and was very jealous of Leonard Voke being named Dea’s apprentice. These classes only lasted a few years before Dea left for Jixaron. Meanwhile, Mara left with Illusario and the other students and professors that volunteered to aid nonviolently during the Seven Year War. Mara learned various forms of teleportation magic beforehand which proved immediately useful when the transport ship was sunk. She spent the war teleporting civilians away from combat zones, and after the "death" of Illusario took over the coordination of other wizards doing the same.
When she returned she was happily welcomed into Jixaron where she refocused on Transmutation magic, teaching new wizards and advancing her studies. It was always her intent to take over as Archmage after the previous one retired, and when the Council of Archmagi was reforming in 1764 ADW she approached them and made her case. She has become one of the world's foremost Transmutation masters and has been loyal to Jixaron for many years, so they agreed and named her Archmage of Transmutation.
