Lamplighters

An adventuring party notorious for its role in the Sankofa Tragedy. The Lamplighters were formed out of the dwarvish city of Hadleigh, and earned their name after an impromptu rescue, involving leading miners out of a maze of collapsed tunnels with nothing but lanterns and torches. The adventuring party was rivaled in fame by the likes of the best, such as the Hellfire Hounds and Rangers of Oakvale. The Lamplighters infamous last job involved pursuing Kalem Mazkar, a rogue mage from the college of Lothenhold, through the tunnels of Sankofa and confiscate the Talisman of the Sphere. Nobody but Tempest, the only surviving member of the encounter, knows what happened. As a result of the fighting, a Sphere of Annihilation swallowed up 7,400 lives in the blink of an eye. By Tempest’s haunting account, one of the other Lamplighters, Dizzerae, had recklessly struck the Talisman with a magic sword as the spell was cast. Scholars say that the sudden transfer, and displacement of that much magical energy resulted in the city-clearing explosion. It was the single highest death toll from a single spell in recorded Alliance history. As a result, the Lords Alliance held a formal trial where all adventuring parties were brought to speak, and were all subsequently banned.
