Backstory
The Guardian
What little is known about Velarya is she attended the Saint Venecia’s Orphanage School of the Holy Maiden in Galencourt. Velarya was a sheepish, introverted girl who was molded into the visage of a noble lady. When the Brotherhood set fire to Galencourt, Velarya was among the wounded being sheltered at a temple of Helm. She and at least seventy others witnessed Ser Hugo Castille, barely a knight for a year, hold off rumored hundreds of cultists before collapsing in a heap of blood and poisoned flesh. Velarya was tired of being the quiet maiden in the background, and made the pilgrimage to Kaer Ronan to beg Hugo to allow her to squire for him. She would not take no for an answer, and even after numerous, sometimes venomous, rejections, Hugo caved and took Velarya under his wing. Under Ser Hugo’s tutelage, Velarya became the spitting image of a saintly knight, striking fast and true, passionately honoring the oaths of the Guardsmen of old, and displayed exceptional swordsmanship.
