The Yuirwood, also known as the Ardeep Forest and the Last Great Vein was named after the Yuir, an ancient race of Star Elves who once dwelled in the forest. The ruins of their civilization dot the woods, reminders of the great elven society that once dominated the entire Faerus peninsula that the Alliance now occupies. The most prominent ruins were the Menhir circles, which served as portals to other parts of the Yuirwood and even the Feywild. The Yuirwood was infused with both ancient and new magic. The mixture of magic within the Yuirwood rendered the forest impenetrable to scrying and divination magic, with any attempt to do so revealing only the woods themselves.

During the Great Fire, the forest became bathed in fire. The Yuir haplessly scrambling to save even the smallest portion of it from destruction. Riddled with Tiamat's fire, the portals found within malfunctioned catastrophically, opening to random destinations ranging from the Feywild to the Shadowfell. During the Age of the First Men, the Yuirwood became one of the primary sources of magical wood and power for growing nations. Logging expeditions and hired mercenaries cleared whole sections, reducing the Yuirwood to a quarter of its original size. Since then, the Yuirwood was renamed the Ardeep Forest by the Alliance, and is believed to be one of the last remaining veins of raw magic in the realm.
