Eszu, known as Catalina or Number 5, is a Yuan-ti Pureblood, and one of the members of The Five

Appearance

A tall female Yuan-ti with muscular arms, Catalina sports green lipstick and brown eyes, as well as bronze skin that can resemble a shade of forest green under the right light. She has long green hair that resembles snakes. She also wears red eyeshadow that helps her eyes shine.

In combat, she wears what appears to be a cobra's head and scales, an intimidation tactic learned from her people.

Personality

Catalina is a quiet individual mostly. Built from her years of serviance and as such, was raised as a follower. Despite this, she is a loyal individual, willing to never sell out others, an oddity in Yuan-ti culture.

On a mission, her bloodlust is thinly hidden, but she is also quick to seduce others, a role she adapted as a dancer.

Backstory

Her birthname would be Eszu, As her early life was in lower castes of society thanks to her Pureblood birth, the Yuan-ti to be known as Catalina was almost cursed to be a sacrifice, a nobody who would only be useful to a race of disliked and untrusted beings. However, when coming of age, her magic began to manifest, and her ability to push away others with her mind allowed her to be a living weapon for her owners. She gained an intrigue in working alongside others, impressed at what teamwork could do. But despite this, and her role as a mental attacker as well as a tastetester, Catalina began to feel - restless. And restlessness would lead to joining a group of purebloods to strike down a few of the leaders and flee, with her magic being considered a great sign of the Gods will.

After escaping, she fled towards the Conclave, changing her name to Catalina for its beauty as she feels it matches her own. For awhile, it was good, making money as a dancer and a chief - but with a sense of emptiness. She needed more. She needed money - and desire. Her clever tongue would allow her to get close to high profile targets, a seductress wearing various masks to pass along information as a spy, and even take out the troublesome. Only those who can figure out the calling card of her service: Hari, could hire her for more than simple dances.

With her only moral code to be 'work well with others', as well as 'avoid cults and summonings of dark Gods', Her true name, buried to time, and her life as a dancer and hired hand has ensured that she can live her life.

Yuan-ti physiology - As a pureblood, Catalina is immune to poison effects

Magical apptitude - Catalina has a high draw of magic, preferring to use water, polymorph, or mental attacks. Her divinity role has made it likely she draws from the Yuan-ti deity: Sseth

Plot

Ambushed en route to the Conclave, Catalina would be forced to watch fellow refugees be executed as she tried to use geas. Forced to comply, she would meet the rest of The Five and K'jalis, a leader of the Forsaken. She would quickly become allied with her team and aim to ensure their success on the heist.

Sadly, when trying to escape arrest and buy time for her newfound allies, Catalina would meet her end with a point blank gunshot and thrown from the top of a building. Serving her purpose in the end as another useless pureblood to be sacrificed.

Trivia

• Catalina’s main theme is Bury by Undead Corporation, a remix of Tomorrow Will Be Special, Yesterday Was Not as well as Lionize by Jeff Williams

• Catalina’s appearance with her cobra helmet is inspired by the supervillain Valentina from the Filipino superheroine franchise Darna. Her role as a Faceless and planned role to swap her personality was also inspired by Chiba Takayuki, the actor from Kengan Ashura.

• Catalina’s favorite food is raw steak, her favorite drink is salt water.

• Originally, Catalina was to retreat to Ygrid and warn her of the stolen mask, accepting death or imprisonment for her role in stealing it.

• Catalina’s alignment is Lawful Evil, she will be willing to spread chaos and steal, but due to her role as someone to be sacrificed, she despises religions and cults to the point of declaring any participants as mentally insane. This gave her a strict code, unusual for Yuan-ti who are biologically incapable of true emotions and rely only on deception, where she would refuse to sell out allies unless their actions would result in cultish activities if she can.

• Unlike Clymene, anyone affiliated with her, Jordun, and Riley, Catalina was purely designed for D&D and not for an original story

• Originally, Catalina was to be a Fighter/Wild Magic mix Sorcerer.

• Catalina was also originally planned to grow an infatuation with Craig Firebrand if she stayed with the Forsaken.
