Despite whatever other problems Ranolan may have had, Xilam assured that whatever he did was respectful of nature. Once Ranolan stepped down and appointed the council to lead the empire, Xilam found that this new council valued his advice much less. He was "encouraged to retire" and left the nation to live in the wilderness in Undaris, living as a hermit in the [[Umbral Range]].
