Appearance

Malvera resembled her father Berukos very much, she was even born with the same cheekbones as him. Aside from the striking yellow eyes, distinct long black hair, wings and horns the only trait Malvera got from her mother was her strange scales. Her scales by default were pale white and iridescent however, she could change the color of her scales either on the fly or based on emotions like when her relative almost outed her hidden vampiric origin to the rest of the team, during which her entire body turned bright red from embarrassment. Much like her father, before he was turned into an angel, she has hooves instead of feet and she has the same exact tail as her father. Much like her father she is blessed with large assets on her chest and her derriere, both of which she tries her best to divert attention away from by being smart unlike her father.

Personality

Malvera is quite literally being held together mentally by those around her, if they weren't around she might of snapped and just started feasting on anything that moves. She is full of fears and insecurities that she tries her best to keep in check but they end up coming out anyway. She was also kind and patient at one point, however, as the journey went on she started to lose her sanity and became more and more jaded from witnessing true horror everyday. As things worsened she started to become haphazardly obsessive with the party, she began to dive head first into dark arts such as vilemancy, shadow magic, blood magic and necromancy especially, in hopes of forcing any allies that died to come back to her. She became very cold, sarcastic, very rude to others outside of the party, uninterested in the well being of the living not including allies, she became disinterested in the world around her as well. She felt a generally empty feeling in her heart and completely lost her inhibitions and stopped hiding her vampirism as a result. She would blatantly collect body parts for magical components or consumption and she became more visceral in combat. Slowly before losing her sanity completely she started to grow more concerning and unhealthy traits such as, becoming more verbally manipulative when questioned about anything she was hiding, feasting on enemies in the middle of combat regardless of who was around and feeding on corpses during rests. Eventually, she left the party after having a mental breakdown when viewing forbidden knowledge that was so intense for her that it turned her into an abomination. But she recovered and slowly went back to her old self but some of the negative traits did linger a bit.

Abilities

Psionics - Malvera has psionic power flowing through her thanks to the antics of the Mind Bender.

Vampirism - Malvera is a vampire and somehow does a great job hiding it.

Biography

Malvera is the daughter of Berukos Darlight and Yvitika Vectress.

Age 5-10 When she was 5 her and her mom spent 5 years trying to get out of the Shadowfell to get her to the material plane to spend a better life with her but right when they finally found a portal, they were attacked and before they could get Malvera her mom sacrificed herself and threw her through the portal. Days before she died, her mom explained to her that strong magic is in her and that her father is somewhere but he left them behind so he didn’t help all throughout their journey. The mother was a wizard changeling but Berukos’ genes are completely dominant thus making Malvera a winged tiefling. Malvera doesn’t entirely know how to use her magic but when she gets angry it just kind of comes out but it usually does more harm than good. Her mother never got the chance to teach her to focus it. This journey was very traumatic and took a heavy toll on her mentally, she is left with a feeling of dread that those that she will get close to will die and leave here scared and alone again. She at the age of 10 wants to find her father despite what her mom told her part of her hopes that it isn’t true and that he will provide the care she is currently devoid of.

Age 10-13 She lived in an orphanage for a very short time, before ever even getting a chance to get adopted, she was kidnapped by a hag along with many other orphans for a few months. Along with that she was also corrupted and starting to be altered and changed by the power of the Mind Bender without her conscious knowledge. She witnessed many terrible things that only added to her ever growing trauma, things like the death of many soldiers, beasts summoned by the hag’s terrible magic, children being used as child soldiers and dying. The hag abused them in many ways such as starving them, threatening to eat them, eating the dead ones and even wearing the face of one. This made her a bit squeamish and a little sensitive to gore but that’s not all. This complicated her relationship with the magic within her, she remembers the great things her mother showed her with magic but that gets muddied by the horrible things the hag did but now that at this point she realizes she has magic within her and it terrifies her. Once she was rescued, she goes to find somewhere to go to get far away from there.

Age 13-19 In her teenage years, she felt her vampiric urges and abilities develop, she goes into a forest for a while and feasts on animals to stop herself from hurting anyone and would hideout in a nearby town in the darkness and tried to look for somewhere to go to find a way to control her urges. She finds two mysterious figures that tell her there is a way to control her urges she follows these figures to a cave and find out that they are fellow vampires that want to help her. They acted as the parental figures that Malvera desperately needed, she felt like she finally had a family to call her own. She was mentored and helped with coming to terms with her vampirism and they doubled as teachers that would bring books for her to read in her free time. She also felt her magic’s alteration in someway, she felt a strange desire to peer into the minds of others as well as feel a sort of protection on her body from will of thought. And now she could go longer without feasting, unfortunately it didn’t last too long. The nearby town guard found and killed her mentors. It turns out that these vampires were going out on hunts and they would loot their prey and bring the findings like books and food to Malvera without her knowing. The guards were about to go after her too but they realized she wasn’t reported in any sightings so they take her in for questioning and come to the conclusion that she is innocent and release her. And now once again without parents, now she doesn’t know who to trust anymore, she even questions her own morals and wants to find a cure for her vampirism because now she can’t even trust herself.

Age 19-25 Malvera set off on a small journey to find a way to cure herself, she does a bunch of jobs to make money and find information on the cure. Her plan is to hire someone to get her somewhere to cure her, but it doesn’t go quite as planned. She raises the money necessary but no one is quite sure what to do. One interesting figure claims to know how to help her and accepts the payment up front but they lied, screwed her over and robbed her blind. So with no money left, she just gives up and fears that she will be a vampire forever. But along the way she gains a bit of vague knowledge of her father and learns that he did a lot of bad things, she also learns her father’s last name and decides to adopt it as a brand and wants to clean up the family’s reputation, she also wants to find her family but is a bit scared to. And eventually, Malvera ended up meeting Brandy Finegirl around the age of 19 and was adopted by her and helped out around the bar once she was of age.

Age 25-32 Malvera decides she will set out on an adventure to help get over her own internal trauma and help keep Brandy Finegirl alive so that she doesn’t lose yet another parental figure, she hopes that this will be just what she needs to live the best life she can and also clean up the name of the Darlight family, not yet knowing what will come in her way.

For a while her mind was corrupted and she walked into the Vile Wilds despite Brandy Finegirl sacrificing herself to stop her. Stak followed Malvera into the plane and eventually the two were teleported out.

- Finding out any of her family is evil and wants to kill her or worse.

- Gets nervous around extreme gore.

Insecurities

- Malvera doesn’t trust her vampiric origin.

- She still hasn’t fully come to terms with her own magic and was hesitant to use it for 32 years.

- She is not at all self confident.

- Worried she will gain a bad reputation.

- Worried that in her quest to stop people from experiencing trauma she herself will become someone’s trauma.

- Malvera appeared in a one shot when she was about 11 before being in the main campaign, this is where she met The Khazz.

- Malvera had a journal that she wrote in to document her journey with the Like Minded Individuals in this journal you can pinpoint the exact moment Malvera snapped and had her mental breakdown, right on the last page of the journal, it reads...

There are many Vilemancy spells in this room as well, I can feel the spells and knowledge flood into me, I hear a voice whispering sweet comforting nothings in my head. Something feels off, I feel different for some reason. Am I crazy? No there cannot be a possibility that I am , it is everyone else in these stories that are wrong, there is nothing wrong with Vilemancy, it is the usage that is the problem. Use it too much and you will destroy yourself, and if you barly use it then you shouldn’t use it in the first place. This must be mastered and honed in on. I must pave the way for all other Vilemancers to come, it MUST be mastered and controlled.
