The '''Cobalt Brotherhood''' is a minor criminal faction of mercenaries mostly operating out of the [[Underdark]]. The organization mainly hunts beasts, Mind Flayers, and those who do not pay their dues. While they are seen as a criminal organization, they pale in comparison to any surface dwelling crime-committers. They bullied other mercenary organizations into working for them, and even incorporated rogue Drow factions into their ranks.

They are supposedly named "cobalt" for their leader, which is, by stories, a Cobalt Dragon. Only a small circle of members can speak to the leader, and those that do talk lose fingers, apparently.

While their criminal deeds are minor theft, assault, and drug abuse, their enemies and those they kill from contracts see their worst side. The '''Cobalt Brotherhood''' are fiends when it comes to coin and any payment, and will do anything to complete a contract. Innocents in the way of killing a monster? Kill them too. Endangered plants? Cut them down to flush out the creature they are hunting. Members of this order are mostly unimportant, minor criminals who are ignored by society. When they come upon a noble or a politician that they are tasked with killing, the worst comes out. Reports of hours of torture, abuse and assault before the victim is eventually killed come from witnesses lucky enough not to get in the way.

This fiendish behavior for coin makes them easy to be bought out and their services purchased. This makes their guild incredibly unreliable and untrustworthy, as they will take the highest payer. Evil doers and high payers use this to their advantage, as they pay the highest amount and get the best service.
