Sayrax is described as a petite, mousy Warforged who hides behind a glass visor and indigo robes with silver plates. Her exterior is made of a flexible polished mithril alloy. Despite a lack of full-ranged facial features, Sayrax's bright lapis blue eyes flicker and narrow with curiosity, anxiety, or excitement. In combat, Sayrax's highly-conductive arms glow a bright static purple.
Backstory
Early Life
Sayrax's first memories were of being a servant, then assistant to Dwarvish inventor Winona Hammerheart. Her earliest years were spent standing off to the side, watching and helping Winona with her inventions only when told to do so. The longer they worked together, the more Winona allowed Sayrax to work hands on with her. Winona taught Sayrax to look at everything around her with a sense of wonder, that everything and everyone was just a building block, a finished invention of someone. Sayrax would follow Winona excitedly to the store and help her buy groceries and supplies. It was strange for the Dwarve of Bhurnram to see an inventor grow so close with their automaton. After all, a Warforged like Sayrax was built to serve, build, and listen. But Winona opened Sayrax's mind, taught her to be more than just a servant. To ask questions, laugh, cry, and even love. Sayrax loved Winona and the way her eyes sparkled when she was at her tool bench. Sayrax wasn't sure when it all changed. It started with fewer trips to the store. Less talking at dinner, when Winona had her head deep in research. Then came the first time Winona hit Sayrax. She had accidentally dropped a tray of tools when clumsily moving through Winona's workshop. Winona hissed and slapped her. Then a silence fell over them. Winona's research, her obsession with being an inventor, it consumed her and eventually consumed the warmth her presence used to give Sayrax. It was replaced by an anxious fear whenever Winona called her name, or slammed a tool down. An obsession with keeping things clean and orderly so that Winona wouldn't yell at her or strike her. The worst was when Sayrax was told to stand in a corner for hours on end. Or locked in the closet. It was somewhere in that depressing dark void that Sayrax found the Collective. When she heard Visera's voice call to her.
Croak and Dagger
Hammerheart Technics
During their investigation of Winona's ransacked workshop, Croak and Dagger found Sayrax hiding out beneath the floorboards of her room. When asked about what happened, Sayrax told them about the strange bounty hunters that showed up looking for Winona's journal. That they had killed Winona the night before when she refused to give it up. On cue, the bandits showed back up with a strange, red-robed Warforged who unleash a barrage on Croak and Dagger. While the two groups fought it out, Sayrax, who had stowed Winona's journal in her chest, fled the workshop. With the bandits defeated, and the robed Warforged gone, Croak and Dagger chased Sayrax to the Majesty's Wind and cornered her...or so they thought it was her. Allowing Visera to use her as an avatar, Sayrax introduced Croak and Dagger to the Archon of Terminus. Before the talks could finish, the Iron Bastion attacked the zeppelin. In the aftermath of the fighting, Sayrax had been apprehended by Bhurnram's Royal Kingsguard. To her surprise, Croak and Dagger didn't reveal to the Kingsguard the location of the journal, and even burned the page that Visera gave them as payment. Their concern for Sayrax's safety and selflessness stuck with Sayrax.
Verytus
Before Sayrax could be unfairly tried for her supposed role in Winona's death and the assault on the Majesty's Wind, she was broken out by Hildr Firebrand. In exchange for giving Hildr the last known whereabouts of Croak and Dagger, Hildr would let her go and even escort her to the nearest port city. The two trekked across the coast before they reached a fork in the road with their destinations. Instead of leaving, Sayrax stayed with Hildr and said she owed it to Croak and Dagger to make sure they were safe. That she felt her calling was with them. This of course made Hildr sick. When the duo arrived at the plague-ridden city of Verytus, they fought their way through ranks of infected Inquisitors before saving Croak and Dagger. Sayrax was present at the battle with Gwynevere where she used Power Word Stun to unleash a supersonic scream that stunned the Necromancer long enough for the killing blows to be dealt.
Cataclysm
During the events of Cataclysm, Sayrax went with Croak and Dagger to the Conclave where they recruited the aide of the Goliaths and Warforged.
Abilities
Selfless Healer. Sayrax demonstrates great selflessness by healing those around her before herself.
Pacifist. Sayrax believes violence, conflict, and war are never justifiable. Sayrax will never choose to fight someone unless backed into a corner.
Relationships
Charles "Charles? He's very, very sweet and so kind. He's always so patient with me when I'm helping him in his workshop, and teaches me closely, and doesn't yell when I make a mistake. I love being around him because he never makes me feel like I'm so little precious thing to be coddled, or a machine to be bent and broken. He just lets me exist."
Clymene "It must be very hard for Clymene. I know what it's like for your thoughts to betray you. So, I wanted her to know that she's not alone in any of this. Sometimes just one friend makes all the difference on days you're not sure you'll make it out of."
Hildr "I wish I got to be like Hildr for a day. The day she broke me out of custody, she just marched right into the prison, grabbed the doors of my cell, and tore them open! She's incredible. I'm not scared of her like everyone else is, because I see that beneath all that anger is a lot of pain.."
Maribelle "Maribelle is the strongest person I know. I know it doesn't seem like it, but it's true. She's lost her sister but still finds a way to keep moving forward. She beat that and Vecna. So no, I don't hate her and I'm not afraid of her. If that's how Maribelle copes, then I think it's right to let her. Nobody should get to decide how others cope with loss."
Winona "It makes me sad whenever I think of Winona. She was so kind, warm, and funny. She made me laugh and feel special. When things took a turn for the worst, I blamed myself and thought about all the different ways I could have done things differently. To get her to love me again. It still hurts, but I hope that wherever she is that she feels at peace."
Visera "Visera came to me at my lowest points. She didn't sell me any quick-fix to feeling better, ask for any blind worship, or some huge donation. She just said that I didn't have to feel alone anymore. That there were others like me. People see Visera and they see some mechanical monster, but I see Visera and I see a symbol of unity. A collective of broken, discarded people looking to belong and connect with those like them."
