Quoruk Cluiekill
Aarakocra, AKA ‘The Ghost of Pinchtat’
Appearance
Quoruk is described as short and forgettable, which is how he likes it. A short-winged, brown and black-feathered Aarakocra with white accents and a hooked yellow beak. Quoruk has narrow black eyes that are often staring off in the distance or neurotically looking over his shoulder. One of his talons is gnarled and scarred to accompany the scar hiding behind a thin tuft of feathers below his left eye.
Backstory
The Ghost
The story changes every time Quoruk tells it. Only the names stay the same. The names of the five men he hunted across the Alliance and the looks on their faces when he shot them. Quoruk grew up in the canopy of the Pinchtat Forest with the Ana'Koi clan and lived a quiet, uneventful life. He'd pick seeds and chew them with his friends during the day, then drank Haranberry at night. That all changed when the aforementioned five men arrived with horses and big guns. The forest was to be cleared for some time now, but the tribe refused to leave. So when gold didn’t convince them to leave, lead did. Quoruk watched as his friends and family were gunned down by the loud, strange, iron rifles the men used. Amidst the shooting, Quoruk overpowered one of the men, took his rifle, and fought back. Where the story differs is whether Quoruk killed them all there, chased them on foot, followed them to the Alliance or Goliaths lands, or watched them flea. It seems Quoruk gets a kick out of choosing how the story ends. Maybe it’s how he coped.
The Rangers of Oakvale
When Quoruk had no enemies left, he decided to make some more. He took up working as a hired gun for ranchers and caravan drivers. Between stops Quoruk was known to get into bar fights with complete strangers simply because he felt like it. It was at what of these bar fights that Quoruk met Craig Firebrand, a frightened Halfling who had only been passing through after shoeing some horses. Between two broken noses and whiskey, the men agreed that Quoruk would protect Craig so long as Craig found him work. Craig has planned on quitting his day job anyway. So began Quoruk’s time with the Rangers of Oakvale. Quoruk spoke honestly and without a filter, sometimes when one was desperately needed. Despite Quoruk’s ruff and rowdy ways, he found his niche within the group. The occasional competition between Quoruk’s rifle and Sven’s bow wasn’t uncommon. He felt he had finally, finally found a family.
No More Heroes
When the Sankofa Accord was passed, Quoruk saw it as another way for the world powers to police people. Quoruk said it was every person’s right to earn a living however they see fit without judgement. Obviously the Alliance didn’t see it that way, and declared that all adventuring parties disband at once. It seemed Quoruk was out of a job, especially since he wasn’t going to register for no posh government Suits to tell him what to do. Quoruk would follow Craig back to Meadowcraft, where his old friend went right to scheming.
Croak and Dagger
Quoruk helped Craig get his plan to start a totally not-legal adventuring party, off the ground. Quoruk found some old sailors to help move them in, and payed his old friend Dennis a tidy sum to help them print and distribute flyers. Of course, Quoruk didn’t think this would work for a second. But to his surprise, five total knobheads answered Craig’s ad, and Croak and Dagger was formed. Quoruk kept to himself for the most part, letting Croak and Dagger do their thing while he helped Craig deal with the bureaucratic nightmare that came with...well, doing highly illegal shit.
Death
During the hijacking of the Majesty’s Wind, Quoruk and company attempted to reason with the pyromaniac leader of the Iron Bastion, Nazdug Metalbeard. When Nazdug threatened to detonate his vest which would kill hundreds on board, Quoruk threw himself at the large metal behemoth, and wrestled him over the edge. The blast killing them both, but saving everyone on board. Quoruk’s drinking mug sits in the same spot he left it, in front of the second to last seat from the right at the Hero’s Rest Tavern, in case he ever got thirsty in the afterlife.
