Backstory
Jonah
Two months before first contact was made on the shores of the Icewind Dale, a foolish boy named Logan and his dear friend Jonah bought into Alliance propaganda and enlisted in the navy with high hopes of seeing the world, brandishing a dazzling uniform, and being paid to do so. They like thousands of other young citizens were thrown into the jaws of war, and on first contact saw the gears of war up close and personal. By what few records remain, the young man known as Logan Karstark was killed overseas during the first landing of the Seven Year War. Whether the smooth-talking, trouble-making smuggler with a bounty, and debt as big as his ego, is Logan Karstark or Jonah Everlight, is absolutely none of your business. The young man that was reborn in the icy waters of Jotunrath, surrounded by the frozen bodies of hundreds of friends, swore to never again be a gear for the greater powers that be. He would take what he wanted, go where he wanted, drink whatever he liked, and sleep with whoever he liked. Anything to escape the memory of the icy depths that almost claimed him.
Campaign 1, Heroes for Hire
Logan met Croak and Dagger at the Dragon's Hoard Casino after swindling Omerók at a game of Hand of Fate. Logan planned on robbing Bigby Bixton's treasure trove when all Hell broke loose and Elvira's men stormed the place. The length of Logan's troubles didn't end there. While sailing Croak and Dagger to Bhurnram, it was revealed that Logan's ship was actually stolen. Cue Aela Stormcaller chasing them and boarding the ship. In return for sparing their lives, Aela took Logan and her ship back, much to Logan's disdain. During this time Logan worked off his debt to Aela at Jotunrath. It wasn't more than a few days later that he met Croak and Dagger again, this time they had foiled Logan's attempts at trying to escape. Feeling bad for Logan's indentured servitude, Omerók helped Logan escape and flee to Freemark. There, Logan paid Omerók back by siding with Croak and Dagger in the trial against Loghain Bradley.
Since that fateful day, Logan has been one of the party's longest reigning members. Logan can often be seen following Craig around, learning the tricks of the trade when it comes to maintaining an operation as large as Croak and Dagger's. A bit of the old Logan still slips through, through wisecracks sent Hildr's way, visible middle-fingers to critics, and all-around shenanigans with his best friend Skulk.
Miscellaneous Facts
- 'Karstark' is an identifying moniker for an illegitimate child in Elvish society, of which Logan isn't an Elf at all. Whether this is evidence that Logan's name isn't his real name at all, or is me (Kent) messing with continuity yet again is up to the players.
- Logan possesses points of luck which are rolled as d6s to decide what fuckery takes place instead of what was supposed to. A ranged attack might instead blow up in the attacker's face, the ammunition might jam, or the ammunition might hit one of Logan's allies instead. Logan equates this to some death deity being salty he escaped their grasp.
