For every joke, harsh criticism, and rebellious outburst, Marilka believed she was expediting the process of being sent back to Hearthhaven. She was utterly confused when despite all that, most of her new family remained patient with her. Now, Marilka can't imagine a day without Hildr's watchful eye, Maribelle's tutelage, or hot summer days in Charles's workshop.
