Gwynevere Aural

Tiefling, AKA ‘Gwyn The Pestilent’

Appearance

Gwynevere can be identified by her strange grey skin pigment and two sawn-off horns between locks of white hair. She casts a sinister gaze over her legions of undead through wide purple eyes. Gwynevere has smooth features which she covers with a heavy set of armor held up by gold chains clasped around her waist and body. Gwynevere’s hands are blackened by her necrotic magic and anything she touches immediately turns to dust.

Backstory

Early Life and Crimes

The earliest, tangible records on Gwynevere placed her somewhere near Ravenloft across the sea. She had been neglected greatly as a child and was passed between homes at a witch commune. Gwynevere used to kidnap, torture, and kill her neighbor's pets, fascinated by the cycle of suffering, dying, and death. But what Gwynevere discovered at the forbidden collection the witch's had, was that there was something after death. Not an afterlife...not really. But Undeath. Gwynevere had nothing but time to practice necromancy and eventually perfected it. Records are spotty as to when Gwynevere left the commune, or when she committed her first murder, but her most notable one was the killing of a notable lord in Freemark. Once a funeral had been prepared, Gwynevere walked onto the burial grounds, stood in the middle of the man's friends and family, and raised the entire graveyard. What followed almost became a city-wide massacre which lead to Gwynevere's capture at the hands of an adventuring party. From there, she was sentenced to death in a prison for witches and wizards. Records are spotty as to how she avoided death, but her next move was to another prison in southern Bhurnram, then to The Maw where she joined the Forsaken.

The Forsaken

Gwynevere is a founding member of the Forsaken and was responsible for disintegrating Laura’s limbs. Gwynevere’s greatest mistake would be leaving her alive.

Verytus

When Gwynevere arrived in Verytus, she sang praise of the city, and sold the clergy at the temple that she had been sent there to help them purify the city. None the wiser, the clergy allowed her in, giving her an opening to plant the seeds of distrust and corruption from the clergy down to the Inquisitors. Gwynevere began to spread a widespread contagion through the corpse of an adult dragon that had accidentally consumed one of her Flesh Giants. Content with this, Gwynevere accelerated the infection and rate of infection through her powerful necrotic magic. Within a few days, citizens turned against one another succumbing to bouts of cannibalistic madness mistaken for Red Plague. It was up to Croak and Dagger to stop her.

Croak and Dagger

The Clash at Verytus

Once confronted, Gwynevere spoke to the fragility of people as a whole. That their fabricated symbols and prayers meant nothing in the face of true power. Seeing that Hildr Firebrand was siding with Croak and Dagger, Gwynevere mocked her, stating that if she could be beaten by the likes of Croak and Dagger, she had no business being a member of the Forsaken. With that, Gwynevere summoned a tower of corpses from beneath the basement where the Inquisitors had dumped the dead infected. Towering hundreds of feet over Croak and Dagger, Gwynevere promised them anguish unlike anything they've felt. Demonstrating high levels of necrotic magic, and battering down the heaviest of Croak and Dagger's ranks, Gwynevere began to settle into toying with them. This would prove to be her first, and most costly mistake against them. As soon as an opening presented itself, Laura, using her Holy Hand Grenade, and Incineryn, striking with 300 explosive beans, incinerated themselves and Gwynevere's tower of corpses. It was in these last moments of arrogant pride that Gwynevere recognized Laura as "the b*tch from the farm", before being consumed in holy hellfire. When the smoke cleared, all that remained was the staggering, half-charred body of Gwynevere who was believed to have been finished off by the surviving members of Croak and Dagger.

Verytus Aftermath

In the aftermath of the fight, Gwynevere's remains were believed to have been seized in their entirety by the Alliance, burned, and scattered separately in classified, remote locations. However, that was not the case. Some of Gwynevere's remains latched to Incineryn's head, and eventually completely regenerated. Through Omerok's scrying magic, Gwynevere was confirmed to be alive and is currently co-inhabiting Incineryn's restored body with Incineryn. If that wasn't enough for Croak and Dagger, it seemed Gwynevere revived her graveyard neighbor, Laura, as well. It seems Gwynevere's necrotic talents know no bounds.

Abilities

High Necromancy. Gwynevere was capable of raising entire cemeteries, or like at Verytus, create a tower of corpses.

Necrotic Touch. Gwynevere's hands were known to necrotize any and all organic matter. She would usually wear gloves to prevent any accidents or self-inflicted wounds.
