===Early Life===
Born in Barrowrock Edge, a large town north of Val-Adin, Aileen was one of fifteen, with seven other brothers and seven other sisters. Aileen was well-known around Barrowrock, and not for the right reasons. She was known as a renegade and troublemaker, getting into fights daily with other children and pranking her teachers. Aileen's parents chalked it up to wanting to stand out amongst her community, but most importantly her siblings. The Locket's lived a comfortable, modest life, and the peace and quiet left Aileen wanting more. More than a quiet homebody life.


To pull her own weight around her household, Aileen quit school and took up a job mining for the Barrowrock Coal Mining Company. Coal and minerals were one of Barrowrock's largest exports, so they were in constant need of around the clock workers. Aileen fit right and within a few months was in charge of her own mining crew. The years spent in the mines were some of the most fulfilling for Aileen, who grew into a stout, chiseled woman by the time she left. One of Aileen's crew members, talked about the world outside of Barrowrock. A world outside of hammering away at hunks of rock and ore. When Aileen was old enough, she decided to hang up her pickaxe and hat and explore this world.


===The Circus Kid===
Aileen took up various odd jobs to pay for all the traveling she did. Eventually she settled down with notorious entrepreneurs, Barnaby and Theodore Bixton, Bill and Ted. The Goblin brothers were running a circus with a few friends and had enough run-ins with bandits on the road they decided to hire some bodyguards. Aileen was one of three bodyguards for Bill and Ted, and since her hiring, very few even thought of robbing Bill and Ted. Lest they tussle with the likes of Aileen's tree-trunk-like arms. On the side, Aileen trained in acrobatic acts in the circus with Bill and Ted's feisty circus bear, Wotjek. Aileen and Wotjek eventually went on to begin performing circus acts with one another, as the Circus Kid and Bear.

Aileen joined Croak and Dagger after she and Wotjek were separated from the circus troupe during the events of Cataclysm. After she found out that one of her oldest traveling buddies, Barbatos, had joined their ranks earlier, Aileen saw it as a sign that she should too. With Croak and Dagger, Aileen found her calling. Aileen's feats of strength and bravery in the face of even the most terrifying enemy, earned her the nickname the Shield, from her biggest fans. Aileen wasn't without fault, and made mistakes like any regular person. But she owned up to every single one of them. After a horribly one-sided deal between Shar and Clymene, Aileen saw her life ticking down. Given just 3 days to live, Aileen went on to drink, laugh, and dance her way until her very last day. With her girlfriend Sam holding her hand, watching the sun go down in a field of grass, Aileen passed away. But some say that's not where her story ends...

Dirty blonde hair, though despite being a mountain dwarf she keeps herself well-maintained. If anything she's more like a normal human with how she presents herself if you disregard her shortness. Her height is of traditional average for dwarves being 4'4.

==Background==
 
Born in Barrowrock Edge, north of Val-Adin, Aileen blessed with a large family. The people of Barrowrock consisted mainly of dwarves, with the occasional minority. Though they are quite isolated and are wary of newcomers, those who earn their trust or become part of the City is considered in a way a family of the people there. Almost everyone knows everyone. From miners to traders to hunters to teachers. Barrowrock Edge is a nice and wealthy place.
 
Aileen's outlook in life is perhaps blessed because of that. With such a warm atmosphere she lived a modest life. The idea of mining wasn't to her liking initially but as part of her family line and specialty in doing so, it was a fate she didn't particularly hate. Besides, everyone was earning riches from their mining expeditions. With the amount of special artifacts and other minerals they could find, they could really trade well with other lands. She might've wanted to be a famous person or so on, but in the end, this wasn't too bad. She was fine with this.
 
Months would pass and soon the mines' treasures they could find would start to wane. It wasn't death of their economy, but Barrowrock Edge did start to struggle. More miners and hunters would have to work harder and the risks increased. Though the villagers were happy, it really was different from the past and everyone was starting to doubt their future. Aileen particularly hated it. She wanted to find a way to return the city she loved back to what it was so she worked even harder, even if it meant forcing herself into the darkness of those caverns more and more.
 
 
 
 
It was becoming more difficult to earn what once made their city popular. Victims to the mines rose up the more Aileen grew up. Initially minor injuries or close calls would soon turn to casualties. Accustoming themselves to eating less and losing more and more luxury was a big surprise to Aileen
 
 
 
 
 
The nature of where she lived and how things worked made her aspire to do so much more. Though she was fine with operating under the dwarven mines she wished to become someone that mattered and didn't have to be shrouded by darkness all the time.
 
 
 
 
Before financial issues arose. Bit by bit there was less food on the table, there was less joy around. Life became worse and things just weren’t great. Even the situation outside didn’t seem favorable. Fights would be more frequent, findings would become less, and their booming village wasn’t so great anymore.
 
One had to accept that their greatness waned and she disliked it. Not being able to house a lot of money and such. Not being able to see smiles on anyone’s faces. But she hoped that things will go well and through hard work people can become better. That’s what the people around her think. Even the retired adventurers think that too. One particular one is Barbatos’ teacher, who’s always eluding any attempts to get him to pay up or so. Always have wonderful life lessons and have great tales that slowly have Aileen want to explore.
 
Her interest on the outside grew more and more and she wanted to find out more- and then she met Wojtek.
 
This rabid bear was so dangerous and feral despite being a cub. Despite it not wanting to be close to anyone, she was able to nurse it back to health. Sure she suffered major injuries and cuts and was frustrated beyond life but through enough effort it became a kind bear that she has influence over. You could say they became partners in life.
