Roland Castille

Human, AKA ‘The Second Sun’

Appearance

Roland has short, wavy dark brown hair and brown eyes. He takes after Edgar that he has begun going grey early, but hates to admit it. Roland has the young physique and height of a proper knight, but again like again, carries himself humbly. Often called a pretty-boy by Griffon, Roland maintains proper care of himself as an example to his soldiers.

Backstory

The Other Castille Boy

Roland lived in his brother Matthew’s shadow in their early childhood. Matthew was taller, faster, stronger, and much better looking. Being a Castille meant holding yourself to high standards, and performing even higher acts of service. Roland was always competing to stand out, where Matthew just naturally excelled and received praise. The competition meant the two were always trying to one up one another whether it was one extra lap around the camp or waking up earlier when 4am just wasn't acceptable. School bullies would refer to Roland as the "Other Castille Boy". Some days, Roland wondered, he'd wish Matthew would disappear.

Military Career

Determined to build a legacy separate from Edgar or Matthew, Roland would go on to rack up accolades and victories in armed conflicts. His outstanding performance in the field would earn him command of his own unit, the 501st Shock Division, also known as the Crimson Lance. With the support of his friends, Griffon Harper and Lydia Redfort, Roland leads the most diverse, effective first-response unit the Alliance has seen.

The Castille Curse

Roland doesn't speak of what happened the day his brother died. He barely left his room when his mother did. Much like Edgar, Roland repressed most of the rage he felt and threw himself into his work on the field. Nobody said anything to him, scared of what might happen if they set him off.
