Gods
Gods (or deities) are entities of great power that control some aspects of mortals lives.
During the Divine War many gods were killed and their divine sparks were taken by or given to mortals who became gods themselves. At different points of history different entities exist there are only 20 divine sparks in existence so only 20 gods can exist at a time. The Divine War ended with the creation of the Divine Pact.
Due to the Divine Pact, the powers of gods are severely limited. They can not interfere with the lives of mortals aside from giving power to clerics and celestials, and they can not enter the material plane or any of the inner planes (feywild, shadowfell, and the elemental planes).
Many other powerful entities are worshiped like gods. Many cultures also practice ancestor worship. Gods are not the only entities that can give powers to followers, but they are the most common.

Pantheons
Sometimes gods are worshiped in groups, called pantheons.
Seven Divines
Bahamut, Helm, Moradin, Oghma, Pelor, Sune, and Waukeen compose the Seven Divines. The Seven Divines are seen as the gods that want to help mortals the most and use their influence for good. The Seven Divines are commonly worshiped throughout the Kingdom of Goldmask and Inenbom. An seven-pointed star is commonly used as a symbol for the Seven.
Realmkeepers
Akadi, Eadro, Lolth, and Silvanus are sometimes worshiped as a group called the Realmkeepers. They are seen as keeping balance between the sky, the sea, the underdark, and the earth respectively. This is one of the few cases where Lolth is viewed as a good deity. The Realmkeepers are more commonly worshiped by elves to the east, in Yicalia and Voricia.
Dark Triumvirate
Lolth, Tiamat, and Vall make up the Dark Triumvirate. Worship of these gods is often shunned and discouraged, leading them to be worshiped in secret. This commonality united these gods and their followers, forming the Dark Triumvirate.
Elder Gods
Cyric, Jergal, Oghma, Pelor, Rend, and Zôz are the Elder Gods, as they have been gods since long before the Arathame. It is theorized that while the other gods were once mortals that have ascended to godhood, the elder gods were simply always gods.
