Dungeon of the Mad Mage! is a show hosted by Halaster Blackcloak, watched by an unknown audience. In it, the "contestants" venture into the Undermountain with the goal of reaching the 23rd level and killing Halaster. If they do, they are awarded one wish each and their freedom. The contestants of the current "season" are Artie, Phranz, Pop, Mortimer, and Vala.
Past Seasons
On the Dungeon Level, the party found a room full of skulls labeled "contestants", many of which Phranz took to use as thrown weapons. These were theorized to have been contestants from past seasons of Dungeon of the Mad Mage!. Nihiloor said that the Twisted Rune was known to contact contestants in past seasons.
Viewers
According to Nihiloor, any being with psionic capabilities can "tune in" to the show to watch it. This includes Nihiloor, the githyanki of Crèche K'liir, and many extraplanar entities.
Halaster has also several times referred to a "live studio audience".
Ratings
Several times the party has received a list of "ratings" assigning a score of some kind to each member of the party. The exact meaning of these numbers is unknown.
