Dea (formerly known as Leofrick Deicidius Cinnabar Arpaton II) is a gnome wizard who was a member of the Stank Bitches and Archmage of Jixaron.
Appearance
Dea is a middle-aged rock gnome woman, standing at 3 ft 4 in (102 cm). She has pale skin, long black hair in a braided ponytail, and one green eye—a simple leather eyepatch is worn over where the other would be. She usually wears a Robe of the Archmagi which has been altered to be the colors of Jixaron, the Cloak of Arachnida, and the Shield Guardian amulet, and wields the Staff of the Magi.
Biography
Dea is a part of the Arpaton family, the daughter of Leofrick Deicidius Cinnabar Arpaton and older sibling of Arys. She was born a changeling and like the rest of the family generally disguised themself as an elf. Also like the rest of the family, she was once a student at Arpaton Academy. She was not the best student, but got along well with Gilrith, the Archmage of Necromancy, before leaving to escape the Seven Sisters—a gang she got involved with in the city. She escaped to Tarvoh where she joined with Grull Shev Chak, Corrin Allum, and Galeio Gandimond to form the Stank Bitches.
Dea, with Chak, Corrin, Tahlon Mississippi, Selma, Rahim Alivir, Ygrid Ironborn, and Maxwell Dias, would adventure as a member of the Stank Bitches for a while. On these adventures, she would join the League of Hunters, die and be resurrected as a gnome, become Archmage at Arpaton Academy, piss off several gods, fight many enemies, and save a lot of people. The group was betrayed by Alison, who turned out to be a lich following Vecna and attempting to take over the material plane. Ultimately with the rest of the Stank Bitches defeat Alison in the Realm of Ice, saving the world. During the fight Dea killed Albrich Hammerheart. After the battle, Dea was tempted by the Eye of Vecna, which is the reason she is missing an eye. She keeps this eye missing when regenerating her body as a reminder that she is fallible and to not give in to hubris.
After the Stank Bitched disbanded, Dea became Archmage at Arpaton Academy full time. Through use of the clone spell, she would live a very long life like many powerful wizards do. She was also assigned an apprentice, the human Leonard Voke. This role at the Academy would last until an adventure with Rahim, the two discovered in the ruins of Jixaron the Bastion of the Eye, an ancient artifact of Primus which could view interplanar threats to the material plane. They decided that they would attempt to restart the Eye, a plan that would lead to Dea restoring the city. As part of this adventure, the two met Primus, who granted the two of them eternal life and peace.
The restoration of Jixaron involved many of the powerful wizards of Arpaton Academy, including Dea, Gilrith, Ganneth, Lilith, Illusario, and others all resigning from their positions and instead moving to the newly formed wizard academy and wizard city. Grubble was named the acting archmage and the academy was sold to the Thenalion Empire, with the majority of the funds from this sale being given to Jotunrath to help rebuild after the Seven Year War. Ganneth, being the expert in divination magic, was put in charge of the Bastion of the Eye. Shortly after this restoration the Planar Marines were also formed, which were eventually also lead by Ganneth. Finally, the Council of Archmagi was organized and Dea was named the Archmage of Jixaron. The Archmage of Jixaron would oversee this Council, make emergency decisions, and lead the overall direction of Jixaron.
Dea would live out nearly 150 years in Jixaron, overseeing its progress. She continued to study magic, learning many spells, creating new ones, and researching unknown magic. Though rather than adventuring on her own, after being granted eternal peace by Primus she instead helped other adventurers to save the realm. Most notably, she had a part in defeating the Mind Bender, and she was at the Battle of Osiris where she lead her personal army of helmed horrors. Jixaron would continue to grow as a city-state and school.
In 1702 ADW, Dea left the plane in search of further adventure and knowledge. She has not been seen since. Probably. With the Council of Archmagi running Jixaron, Dea knew Jixaron, the material plane, and the universe were in capable hands. Many people expected that Dea would name Leonard as her replacement as the next Archmage of Jixaron. But over the years as much as Dea tried to get Leonard to think in the selfless world-saving mindset, he just wasn't an adventurer. Dea left behind a letter explaining that she was leaving to explore the planes and help other people of other worlds. In this letter, she suggested that Gilrith be named the next Archmage of Jixaron, and that Leonard should go off on his own, use what he's learned and help the world in his own way. What happened between Dea leaving and now is up to you, if Leonard convinced the other archmagi, or enchanted them, or if he did prove himself somehow, or if Gilrith did become Archmage of Jixaron but then is no longer around himself for some reason, up to you.
Personal life
Dea would have several relationships over the years, including Kelemvor, Grubble, Leonard Voke, Emileide Rothenel, Belial, and others. She would never marry, though, and have only one child—Malevolo, the son of Dea and Kelemvor, born in 1640 ADW. She would live in the Archmage's tower in Jixaron with Malevolo (until he was old enough and moved into a manor of his own in the city) and her pets; Bastard, Leonard (the mastiff), and the phase spiders. This tower was known to be decorated with bean bag chairs and lava lamps.
