Ravenloft

Ravenloft, also known as Whisperwood during its creation, sits in the Valley of the Mist in the eastern regions of the Drow Kingdom. A large lively town despite its gloomy appearance, Ravenloft celebrates all things eerie, macabre, and deathlike. Its citizens believe that only those too blind or caught in their own beliefs, have something to fear from darkness. Ravenloft holds many secrets in its old dusty libraries, and if reading or watching gruesome plays about monsters isn't your scene, then maybe a nice hot drink at the Whistling Pipe is more your thing.

Government

Ravenloft is ruled by elected officials who follow a mayoral figure. The current mayor of Ravenloft is Othar Askgrid.

Defenses

The valley which Ravenloft sits in is completely surrounded by mists and a number of forward camps inhabited by town-guards. In the event of any unsavory characters headed to Ravenloft, the town-guard would enchant the mist to confuse the trespasser and force them to wander aimlessly for any number of days in the valley. There have been instances of the town-guard losing people in the mist and finding them days later dead. Whether by starvation or some supernatural force following them through the mist.

Notable Locations

Castle Ravenloft A seemingly abandoned castle believe to be haunted by the noble lords and ladies who lived there centuries ago. People who've wandered into the castle have never returned, believed to be lost in its halls forever. The castle sits on the edge of a steep drop and has become something of an icon for the gothic town of Ravenloft. It's been said that at midnight, people reported seeing tall, pale, faceless figures pass by the stain-glass windows.
