The Doctor of Sheng-Lao isn't a single person, but actually an entire organization of people, all dressed in dark-colored leather uniforms resembling an old-century plague doctor. They are healers, surgeons, and clerics who follow in the footsteps of the Doctor, whose story and reasons for treating the sickly and terminally ill for free is currently unknown. Those who can barely afford medicine or treatment, the truly destitute and outcasts of society, know the Doctor of Sheng-Lao and his doctors very well. Those who would abuse their power, who charge absurd amounts that only nobles could afford, may find themselves begging the Doctor for treatment one day...only to find the same compassion and mercy that they showed others.
